Introduce yourself!

Hi I’m Andrew Hamilton, the captain / owner of a 78’ research catamaran SV Sea Explorer. I am developing a low cost, lightweight fibre optic oceanographic winch with Niskin rosette and subsea basestation to support underwater robotics. I want to incorporate Bristlemouth support into the subsea basestation.

Whoa @seaexplorer that’s really cool!

Where are you based?

Are you university or gov affiliated or going on this on your own? Not that those are pre-requisites, but just curious of your plans.

How deep do you plan to go? Our connectors have been rated to 300m but we suspect we can get much deeper with the proper testing and evaluation.

Hi Zac, Sea Explorer is based in the Eastern Med. It is my private research vessel, available for research charter at reasonable rates. The winch / basestation / rosette system is designed for 2000+ meters and I’d be happy to help validate Bristlemouth connectors at these depths.
